Among many things I didn’t know about Porto was its friendliness to walkers and the location of the house so you can walk comfortably ten to fifteen minutes to the city center and even try different directions. I like to discover the city from its streets, so I didn’t do much seeking for the attractions upfront. They have several guides, but the personnel had given me practical tips for the bridge and R. de Santa Catarina to try during my first breakfast, and they were well rewarded. The breakfast was amazing, quite a selection of what you might need in the morning with good coffee, big oranges, and Pastéis de Nata makes it something worthy to look forward. I am not much into night pub crawling, so I haven’t tried some small restaurants around in the evening, but they definitively seemed much more local, than those in the city center. The overall quiet feeling of the suburb made me feel like enjoying the stay from the local perspective. In the evenings, you can do some more research on the internet, which was quite fast (I did some school), but I also noticed they had cable TV (which looked tempting :) By the way, the rooms felt clean, likeways at least for me looked whole city of Porto.

The house has charm and everything is spotlessly clean. The warmth and commitment of Fatima is particularly worth mentioning. She is the perfect host, is always in a good mood and has an open ear for questions. Downtown with its sights can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes. There are very good and reasonably priced restaurants off the main tourist routes. With the exception of the ‘tripe’, we tried all the classics of regional cuisine, thumbs up. On Fatima's recommendation, we visited authentic restaurants in the neighbourhood of the ‘Dukes’ with a small number of tourists and were not disappointed. She also gave very good tips for sightseeing and excursions in the Porto area. If you have enough time, you should definitely take a trip to the Douro Valley, possibly to Braga, of course taste some port wines and (my personal highlight) take a guided Segway tour through Porto. We enjoyed our stay at the 'Dukes' very much. All highly recommended, we would love to come back.

We last stayed here in 2020, pre-Covid, and am glad to report that it is just as great as we remembered it. This charming building is located ten minutes walk from the city centre and five minutes walk from the metro station that connects to the airport so is super convenient. Our room was bright, spacious, clean and comfortable with high quality linens and everything we needed. Breakfast each morning was plentiful and varied with freshly squeezed orange juice. But the standout feature at Dukes Corner is the staff, they are so friendly and helpful, especially Fatima, who cannot do enough for you, with lots of thoughtful little details. An absolute bargain for the quality.

Wow! From the moment we arrived Fatima made us feel very special. Every morning at breakfast nothing was a problem, fresh orange juice ,selection of cereal, cooked eggs in different ways made especially for you. Every requirement was fulfilled and every question regarding sights to see and where were answered. We enjoyed our stay very much and will recommend Dukes Corner to all our friends. Being a small hotel makes it better, you become more than just a number and it didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you once again to Fatima and colleagues keep doing everything you do and the way you do it. One in a million!

As a solo traveler, I want to feel safe where I stay. Fátima was a welcoming host and very kind. She made me feel at home the moment I walked in. The room was perfect (very clean and bathroom was very clean) for my stay as I had everything I needed. Breakfast was perfect, especially the scrambled eggs. Arriving late at night and dehydrated, Fátima got me water and was so kind. The location was great too, could walk to the bridge and waterfront as well as train station to travel to Lisbon. Highly recommend staying here, especially if you want to feel safe as a solo traveler.
